For two-thirds of its length, Malawi encompasses Lake Malawi. Backpacker destinations are very popular in this country, and several places on the lake cater to this market. The best way to see the highlights is by renting a car or taking a custom tour.

Malawi’s South
Arrived at Airport of Chileka Blantyre (BLZ) is in striking distance of Malawi's most exciting wildlife and hiking destinations.
Malawi’s North
After arriving in Lilongwe International Airport (LLW), head east to the lake.
Having traveled all the way up north, you have the option of returning directly to Lilongwe or visiting Liwonde National Park or Majete Wildlife Reserve for top-notch wildlife viewing. If you are driving back south, break the trip at one of the resort areas on the lake, in Chintheche for example.
Malawi’s Flying Safari
For the more adventurous, Ulendo Airlink also offers a scheduled flight to Lukuzi in South Luangwa, Zambia as part of this circuit. On top of this scheduled circuit they also offer non-scheduled chartered flights to Nyika National Park and Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve, which make these easy destinations to add on.
